Home > Support > Online Help Manual > How to use Master Voyager > How to create an encrypted CD/DVD or USB Flash Drive > How to create an secure partition
Start Master Voyager.
You will see a list of the available CDROM drives and connected USB flash drives. When you see [EMPTY] text, it means that no media are present in the CDROM drive/USB card reader.

We want to show you how to create a secure partition on the Compact Disc. The procedure of creating secure zones on the USB flash drives is similar (and even simplier).
Click the CDROM icon.
Master Voyager opens the compact disc and reads the previous session. Master Voyager supports multisession discs. When the disc is opened you will see the available operations.

Please look at
the "Secure
Media Partitions on I:" frame. You will
see two icons there "Partition
Manager" and "Public
Area". Partition Manager
creates secure partitions (protected by password) on a CD/DVD/USB
stick. "Public
Area" is the section
on the media containing files/folders that are available for everyone. The
public area also contains the AutoPlay module of Mobile Voyager (Mobile Voyager
is a part of Master Voyager, which is located on your protected media).
Click the
"Partition
Manager" button to create
a new secure partition

The blue bar is
the public area of the CD (now it has no disk label) that shows the total size
of the media. In our case it is a DVD-RW disc 4.38 gb. It is an empty
disc.
Let's create a
new secure partition.
Click the
"New..." button and type
the partition name and the disk label of the new partition. Disk Label will be
visible in the system when you open the secure partition (it will be available
to all programs as a virtual hard drive).

Enable or disable the "Open partition on AutoPlay" checkbox. When checked, the password for this secure partition will be automatically requested upon inserting a CD into the CDROM drive (or connecting the USB flash drive into the USB port). When not checked, the password will not be requested but it will still be possible to open the secure partition from context menu of Mobile Voyager icon (located in the tray notification area).

As
you can see in this picture, a new green bar has been added and the blue bar's
size has been reduced. The icon of the green bar is semitransparent, which means
that this new secure partition is just virtual (not physically created yet). You
can also see the new Apply button.
This button will create a partition.
You can click the
"New..." button multiple
times if you need to create several secure partitions with different passwords.
Master Voyager assigns the name "My
Documents #1" for this new
partition. "SECUREPART" is the label of
the future virtual disk. Every secure partition will be mounted as a virtual
hard drive every time you enter a password. And this disk label will be the
label of the virtual hard drive in its mounted state.
The size of new
partition is 2.19 GB. It has not burned to CD yet.
But before
clicking the Apply button, we can
change some parameters. Click the "..." button to rename
the partition, or resize the partition using your mouse. See the following
picture for example:

Ok. We've just resized the partition and the new size is 1.12 GB.
Click the ... button and rename the partition and change the disk label.

Now click the Apply button to create the partition.

Please note that when you create a new partition on a Compact Disc, Master Voyager first creates its disk image in the temporary folder on your HDD. You will then need to burn all changes to the CD when you are ready. After burning, all temporary files will be removed from your HDD automatically.
When the Apply button is clicked, Master Voyager asks you to assign a password for the new partition.

In the evaluation version it is allowed to enter a "123" password only. In the registered version it is allowed to use any password up to 32 characters in length. This password will be used to encrypt a whole secure partition using an AES256 bit encryption algorithm. It is enough to secure it for any purpose.
It will require several minutes of waiting.

New secure partition is being created.

Click the Close button to close Partition Manager.
Now you've created a new secure partition on your DVD-RW disc. But currently the disk image of the partition is located in a temporary folder of your hard drive. Before burning the partition to your CD/DVD, we need to add sensitive files to the secure partition. In case of USB flash drives - you do not need to do anything else.
